Week one. Done.

Starting a new job is always going to be daunting. You are leaving a space that has become comfortable and safe, doing a job that comes naturally with many things happening on autopilot. You answer the phone and don’t have to think twice about how to transfer it to a colleague! (It’s taken a few days but I think I have cracked it).

As a recruiter, despite working in the industry with candidates who are changing jobs all the time, I was no different. I had the expected nerves as I drove up the long driveway to my new agency (can I just add that we are surrounded by fields AND the only traffic was pheasants!) However, these nerves very quickly disappeared as I was greeted by my very happy and smiley, new colleagues. The nerves transformed into excitement which seems to have just grown each day that I have been here.

What I love the most already about my new agency is that they share my values and attitude to recruitment. Of course all businesses like (and need) to make money, but the number one thing and at the heart of what they do, are the relationships that they build. Looking to form partnerships with their clients so that they know them inside and out, so that should they be looking for a new teamie in the future they know the type of candidate who would fit perfectly. Similarly, with candidates, they don’t just want to be talking to candidates who could be great for a new role that has come in, but building those relationships so that should they be looking in the future they already know them so well and can help them with their job search in the best way possible.

I can’t forget to mention the two gorgeous office dogs called Sonny and Ted AND the incredible coffee!

Thank you, Beyond The Book, for welcoming me with open arms and making my first week great.

At Beyond The Book I focus on recruiting across PR and Events, including social media and communications roles, both agency side and in-house. If you are a client looking for some new talent then please do get in touch.

If you are a candidate thinking about making the move yourself, then let’s have a chat :)

If you just fancy a chat about the market and industry then I would welcome the call – 01789 451513.

Change can be hard. But staying in the same place can be harder.
